Rental Terms
All vehicle rentals are governed by a comprehensive Rental Agreement, which you will receive at the time of booking confirmation or upon collecting your vehicle. This document outlines the specific terms, conditions, insurance coverage, applicable charges, and your responsibilities for the rental. In any situation where there is a discrepancy between these Terms and the Rental Agreement, the Rental Agreement will prevail.
Eligibility Criteria
Vehicle Rental Requirements
- To rent a vehicle from Arnold, you must be at least 21 years old, though age restrictions may differ based on the vehicle type, with possible additional charges for drivers under 25. A valid full driving license, appropriate for the vehicle category, is required and must be held for the minimum duration indicated in the Rental Agreement. You will also need to present valid identification and proof of your current address, alongside valid payment information and a security deposit. Any additional requirements outlined in the Rental Agreement must also be met.
Booking and Payments
- Reservations can be made via our website, over the phone, or directly at our Dartford office. To confirm your booking, a deposit may be needed. The remaining balance and a security deposit are usually payable at the time of vehicle pickup. All prices are listed in British Pounds (£) and include VAT where applicable. We accept major credit and debit cards, with secure processing through trusted payment providers.
Vehicle Pickup and Drop-off
- At the time of vehicle collection, it is important to conduct a careful inspection and report any pre-existing damage without delay. A vehicle condition report will be completed and both parties will sign to confirm its accuracy. The vehicle must be returned in the same condition as when it was collected, with allowances made for normal wear and tear. Any new damage will be evaluated and appropriate charges will apply. Ensure the vehicle is returned with the same fuel level as collected; refueling fees will be imposed if it is returned with less fuel. Late returns may result in extra charges, so please inform us promptly if you foresee any delay. You will be liable for any parking fines, traffic violations, or other charges incurred during your rental period, along with an administrative fee.
Insurance and Liability Terms
- All rentals include basic third-party insurance. You will find comprehensive coverage details and excess amounts outlined in the Rental Agreement. Additional insurance options may be offered to help limit your financial exposure. It is advisable to review these options thoroughly. You will be accountable for any damage or loss up to the insurance excess, unless additional insurance is in place. Any damage resulting from negligence, misuse, or violation of these Terms will remain your responsibility, regardless of insurance coverage.
Cancellation and Modifications
Cancellation and amendment policies depend on the type of booking and the notice period provided. For precise information, please consult your booking confirmation or Rental Agreement. Be aware that late cancellations or failure to show up may incur additional charges.
7. Restricted Activities
Prohibited Vehicle Uses
- The vehicle must not be used for any illegal activities or purposes. This includes racing, rallying, off-roading, or any other dangerous driving practices. Transporting hazardous materials is prohibited. Sub-letting the vehicle or permitting unauthorized drivers is not allowed. Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs is strictly forbidden. The vehicle should only be used within its intended design and capacity, adhering to passenger and weight limits. Additionally, driving outside the agreed geographical boundaries requires prior authorization.
Breach of these terms may lead to rental termination and extra fees.
8. Liability Restrictions
To the fullest extent allowed by English and Welsh law, Arnold Car Hire cannot be held responsible for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, including loss of profits, data, or business, resulting from your use of our services. Our total liability for any claims is limited to the rental amount paid in the last 12 months. This limitation does not apply to liability for death or personal injury resulting from negligence or fraud.
Legal Framework
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Disputes will fall under the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts in this region.
